Zinc
An essential trace mineral involved in normal immune function, added to your bag.
What it is
Zinc is an essential trace mineral. The body holds very little of it and has no real storage depot, so intake matters continuously. It is a structural or catalytic component of a large number of enzymes and of the proteins that regulate gene expression.
It is added to the carrier bag in a small dose (one to two milligrams) and infuses with your fluids.
What it is used for
- A mineral the body uses in normal immune system function*
- Contributes to normal DNA synthesis and cell division*
- Involved in the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails*
- Contributes to protection of cells from oxidative stress*
- Contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism*
How we give it
Added to the primary IV bag and infused with your fluids.
Already included in The Immunity.
Good to know
Why such a small dose?
Because zinc and copper compete for absorption, and sustained high zinc intake can push copper down over time. The dose in the standing order is deliberately modest for that reason. If you are already taking zinc supplements at home, tell your nurse.
