B-Complex
Also called Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6
A group of water-soluble vitamins the body uses in normal energy metabolism, added directly to your bag.
What it is
B-complex is not one vitamin but five given together: thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5) and pyridoxine (B6). They are water-soluble, which means the body does not store them in quantity and excretes what it does not use; one reason deficiency in any single one is possible even on an ordinary diet.
They are added straight into the primary bag and infuse with your fluids rather than being given separately.
What it is used for
- A group of vitamins the body uses to convert food into usable energy*
- Involved in normal functioning of the nervous system*
- Involved in normal red blood cell formation*
- Contributes to normal psychological function*
- Often requested alongside fluids after travel, illness or a period of poor eating*
How we give it
Added to the primary IV bag and infused with your fluids over the length of the drip.
Already included in The Hydration Reset, The Recovery, The Immunity, the Myers Cocktail and The Aftermath.
Good to know
What is the flush people mention?
Niacin (vitamin B3) commonly causes a brief flush: warmth, redness across the face and chest, sometimes a prickling feeling. It is well recognised, it is benign, and it passes on its own. Your nurse will tell you to expect it before the infusion starts.
Will my urine change colour?
Very likely, and it is nothing to worry about. Riboflavin is bright yellow, and what your body does not use leaves in urine over the following day.
